TIME LESS is here!!!

Hey everyone.
Jamie here. What’s this? Jamie is actually doing stuff for Illumination Cinema? What? I thought he was Australian? WHAAAAAAAAT?!
Well I’m glad you asked. TIME LESS has arrived. Or its up. Or its here. TIME LESS is out is what I’m trying to say. I’m pretty proud of it... the script I mean. Tyler’s animation is woeful. Basically big man Tyler asked me to write a blog thing talking about the process. I said “Maybe” and then he said he would send me his secret stash of Chris memes and I was like “You’ve got yourself a deal mister!”
So on with the obligatory “This is how we got here.”

It was the summer of 2014 when I was sitting in my theatre scriptwriting class when suddenly I was confronted with an assessment: Write a script. Now me being me, I had written scripts before, all with great fame, such as Housemates, Between The Sheets and of course my most proud creation that I definitely will finish: Legacy. So I thought to myself “This is easy. I got this.” I was wrong. So, so wrong. Our first task was to write a synopsis in 5 minutes for the show we were going to write. And let me tell you, elusive reader, that that particular synopsis was horrendous. It was about two guys on a boat and some chick washes up. It didn’t make much sense. So I changed the chick to a clock and suddenly everything made sense. I decided that I would make it an absurdism piece in the vein of Waiting for Godot and Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead. I chose to do this because absurdism has always been absolutely fascinating to me, the idea that all these random conjectures and weird situations are all a reflection of who we are and what our world is. As I began writing one scene, I started this round in circles dialogue that would begin in one place, tangent out to somewhere ridiculous and miraculously end up where the
​conversation began. It was entertaining to write. 
So basically what I’m saying is, I wrote this to make myself have a giggle while trying to do a very serious assessment. I found writing the piece that it became about humans connection to structure and time, and how everything we do in this world is based on a clock. We wander about every day, doing menial tasks that really don’t do anything for our race as a whole and when the clock strikes 12 then “Oh, it’s lunchtime” and then everyone all at once, rushes out to grab food prepared by people whose lives are centered and dependent on the concept that everyone requires food at exactly 12pm. It’s weird. We’re all a bunch of weirdos.​
So once I found this context, I began to layer the idea of existence and the idea that these two men are having an existential crisis aboard a vessel in a vast ocean with nowhere to go. Sounds a lot like humanity to me. So that’s it really. TIME LESS is us. It’s me showing everyone that our world doesn’t make much sense and we are constantly trying to control things that basically can’t be controlled. Like time.
So basically, we should all time less. Ayyyy.
In terms of the actual process of making this film, well Tyler just said “Hey I want to animate it” and I said, “Go for it”, then he kept bothering me every month or so with stuff like, “Hey is this animation good?”, “Hows the sound in this bit?” and I said “Yes” every time to shut him up. Now it’s done. I actually did something. Now I must disappear back to my family of Kangaroos and return every year or so to release a trailer for Legacy that actually has nothing to do with Legacy.
