Also, to play a bit of catch up here, we have released three new podcast episodes since our last update. Those being: "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (featuring David Cantu), "Christmas Special of the Thrill" and "Don Hertzfeldt" (both featuring Beth Christine). The next one will be later this month on the films of Mamoru Hosada. None of us have seen any of them yet, so we're excited to check them out! Something else that has happened recently is that our feature, LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT, was put on both Amazon Prime and Vimeo On Demand. There will be links to all of the options on the film's page, HERE. The content you get on Vimeo is pretty much the same as VHX, minus a pdf booklet. The version on Amazon is free to watch for Prime members, but it is only the film by itself, no bonus material. Maybe give that a watch. It is a New Years movie after all.

What's up everyone!? It's been a while since our last post. So I wanted to check in really quick.
First, a couple weeks ago, we released a new podcast episode, "Torture Podcast III". Once again, David Wayne Young guest hosted with us. I'd say it was a successful episode. Our next one won't be until, at least, the 29th. I believe we only have three more before until the end of this season. Following those, we'll take a month break from the show as we usually do. Next up, the wait continues for the release of our new short film, ANOTHER DAY COLDER. Sorry there hasn't been any news as of late. I've unfortunately been taking my sweet time trying to see if we can do anything special for it at all. Regardless, I'm starting to believe that everyone will be seeing it some time in October. We'll get a specific date out there soon. Lastly, I just wanted to lay mention for any Wichita locals out there, we have joined in sponsoring Horror Fest 2017. An annual event put on by the awesome people of Wichita Big Screen at the Old Town Warren through the month of October. For anyone unaware, this group stays up to date on all the special screenings happening in the various Wichita cinemas. I owe many of my best theater-going experiences over the last couple years to these guys. So for details on this, go visit their Facebook page HERE for any information regarding screenings. There's a lot going on behind the scenes here. Can't wait to give more updates in the future. -Tyler Hello everyone.
How've ya been? Good? That's great. We have been making a lot of progress on our end. In fact, that's what I'm here to talk about. I'll try to break all of this down, because there will be quite a bit of information... WE ARE AN LLC: So for the last few years, we've been working towards having most of us in the same place and officially becoming an LLC. This year, we accomplished both of those things. Personally, I'm so happy to have reached this point. We have been working very hard to get here and we can finally start moving even further along. I have to give major thanks to David Young. Without him, we would still be sitting around wondering where to start. WEBSITE 4.0 UPDATE: Since you are here, you've probably noticed the update. This is definitely the biggest one so far. I've been holding back on going with the more modern website design because for a long time, they just looked ugly to me. But I'm actually really pleased with how this tuned out. I feel like everything is a bit more streamlined. You may have noticed that we have new photos as well. Special thanks to Scott Reacher for helping us take the group photos on Friday. We have also added a few new things in the "Our Work" section. Specifically, ANOTHER DAY COLDER and a section for Comics with a promo for A SCRIPT CALLED MISERY. Neither of these things are actually out yet, but will be coming fairly soon. I wanted to include them as part of the portfolio. I will talk more about the comic later. In the "About Us" section, we have updated the personal profiles of each of the members and added a new introduction video. We figured it was time to replace "WHAT IS ILLUMINATION CINEMA!?". It was a little out of date. I'm very happy with the new video and hope you enjoy it. Additionally, we will be launching a new page soon. The page will be called "Services". It will be full of different jobs you can hire us for both locally and online. I still need a bit of time to get the page ready, so it will probably be up some time next month. OUR PROJECTS: We've been posting quite a bit on social media about all the aforementioned topics as well as some work on our current projects. There is still quite a bit we aren't prepared to talk about. But we have been extremely busy balancing a lot of stuff. Pretty much everyone in the company has something that they are working on right now. In general, we've been recording several voice over performances, storyboarding for our current feature, punching up scripts and working on getting ANOTHER DAY COLDER set up with a release date. As promised, I want to briefly talk about the comic. It is based on a screenplay I wrote a couple years ago and it's being illustrated by Beth. I just finished looking over the sketches for the first issue and it is turning out really great. I'm not sure when it will be rolling out, but I'm very excited for it to happen. I'll tell you more when I'm able to. As for everything else, I can't say much. But I'm equally excited about those things too. PODCASTS: While David Young was in town, he, Chris and I recorded two podcasts. One being "Directed to Dumpster Vol. 2". It was released a few days ago and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. There will be another episode going up (hopefully) on September 1st. After that, I believe the episode releases will be a bit slower. Anyway, that's all I've got for you today. I hope you'll stay tuned for everything coming down the pipeline. The future is looking pretty bright right now. -Tyler So we haven't exactly been subtle about this seeing as we've posted several behind the scenes images on Instagram and Twitter. But for the last few months we have slowly been putting together a new short film. This one is written and directed by one of our newcomers, Beth Christine. The short is called ANOTHER DAY COLDER. There are a few stills from it below. The truth is, the short is completely finished and we're pretty happy with it. Right now we're just reviewing several options for how we're going to release it. We'll let you know if anything special is going to happen. But you will more than likely be seeing this near the end of the year.
So what else are we doing? That's a great question. This year might be looking a little bare in terms of content, but there is a lot going on behind the scenes. The biggest thing we are working towards this year is getting the company officially set up. If you didn't see the news before, Chris, Beth and I are all in one place now. Lots of things have been and will be changing very soon. We recently added David Cantu (who you might recognize from LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT or as the voice of God from BRIMSTONE TERRACE). Unfortunately, I also have to announce that, technically, we can no longer have our best Aussie pal, Jamie Zin, as a part of the group. It was probably inevitable. We've been working for a long time to make this a more local operation. But fret not! Jamie will still come on the podcast, do voices and write with us. It'll basically be the same as always. Also, he will always be the foundation for our podcast rating system, so his spirit will live on forever. In terms of creative projects, we have said before that we are currently working on our second feature. This year we are in early production and will be getting much deeper in next year. So basically, this project is mostly my problem for now. The other one is something a little bit different. Back in 2015, I wrote a script for a feature (or mini-series) and over the past few years, a couple people have taken a crack at producing it and have fallen short of actually doing so. So I've decided that we will producing it as a graphic novel, illustrated by Beth. She has been working on character designs and everything looks really great so far. I would have been disappointed if this script never saw the light of day, so I'm glad we are doing something with it. We also have a couple other things that we want to try to do soon. Some of which you may see sooner than others. It all depends on how things play out. Lastly, we come to the podcast. This month we have posted episodes on Martin Scorsese and Disney Films. Both of which turned out pretty decent. The latter features David Wayne Young. We have some other cool episodes coming up soon. Some with very cool guests! So stick around for those. I do believe that's all I have for you today. Check back in a couple weeks for another podcast episode! -Tyler Hey everyone!
Hope you are having a good 2017 so far. While the latter part of 2016 might have felt a little bare, I'm pretty happy with the our milestones. I finally got to check making a feature off of my list of accomplishments. Next up is making one I'll actually be happy with. I'm also glad we made Time Less and put together what is definitely the best year the podcast has had so far. Looking forward, this year is going to be a very busy one. As far as I know, it will be lacking in any big releases. But there will be a thing or two worth noting later on. This year is all about raising the bar behind the scenes. Hope you enjoyed Living After Midnight over the holidays. Streaming ends tonight and it will be going right back into the Disney Vault until the end of time. But seriously, it will be available on VHX for $5 from here on out. We may do something like this again next year (maybe) but that's up to me to decide 12 months from now. As for the podcast we'll be coming back on the 20th (ideally) for "The Founder". We have a pretty neat schedule planned out for this year and I'm excited to do several of these episodes. Anyway, that's enough pointless rambling from me. Have a good year, everyone! -Tyler Hey boys and girls! Long time no update! As promised, I have done a re-design of the website. Nothing huge. Mostly a slight theme change. That along side the new logo that Chris and I designed. I'm pretty happy with it. Much better than the stock image of a light bulb.
Speaking of projects in the works! If you follow us on Instagram (we have an Instagram by the way), Facebook or Twitter, you will have seen that we have started production on a new project. I'll spill this much, it's a feature-length animated project that I am directing. I traveled to Texas to work with Chris and David, as well as several other great people, to do some voice recordings and shoot some reference video for a few bigger sequences. I can guarantee that you'll be hearing more about this film in the future, but release is far, far away. Like seriously, it's a couple years from now. In the meantime, we have started on a few smaller things. But we'll tell you about all of that later. We still have the small promo video we teased a couple posts ago and it's coming soon. The video is totally complete and we're just waiting to release it.
force them to watch those films and talk about them. Chris was first up and let me tell you, torture was a pretty accurate description. He chose a theme of "collect 'em all card game movies" with "Pokemon: The First Movie", "Digimon: The Movie" and "Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie". On my end, I chose a different method. What is it? You'll have to wait to see next week.
Rewinding back when I talked about the trip, we recorded a special episode of the podcast while I was in Texas. You'll be seeing that some time down the line. Hopefully it will be a nice surprise. One last piece of podcast news! I'm not sure if I already said that the show is on Google Play, but it is. Also, we brought back the ability to download episodes off of the website itself for any of you losers who don't have Google Play or iTunes. Just check out the Podcast page and you'll be able to find links to individual episodes along with their Jamie ratings. Anyway, I think that's about it for now. Have a look around. Let me know if you find any problems on the site that I should fix. Put them in a comment or something. More updates soon-ish! -Tyler Hey everyone! It’s been a little while since the last update. We’ve been extremely busy with multiple projects. Unfortunately, it’s a bunch of stuff that won’t be seen for a long time. I, myself, have been juggling a lot of projects plus trying to get some other stuff sorted. But you didn’t come here to be teased! You want answers! “What can you guys talk about,” you scream. Well, first of all there is a new episode of the podcast out. In this episode, we chat about the remake of “The Magnificent Seven”. As I probably mention in the episode itself, this one of the last two episodes for “season 2” of the podcast. Usually around this area of time is when we take a small hiatus. This year we opted to take more of a soft break. After our next small episode, we’ll be back in full swing (I think). Another thing we’ve been working on is making another big website update. It will essentially be version 3.0 and it will be the biggest change yet. Not THAT big though.
Happy New Year, everyone!
I know what you guys are thinking. "Man, 2015 hardly had anything besides podcasts". Well, you aren't wrong. We released a short film and the finale to our series at the beginning of the year and not much after that. Not for lack of effort though. We've been doing a lot of work on our other projects here behind the scenes. Mainly, "Living After Midnight" and "Time Less". Both of which WILL be coming this year! We have a lot of plans for the new year. We're really trying to make some big strides forward. I hope that you guys don't mind the podcasts being our main source of content. It's obviously not our main focus. In all reality it's just the easiest thing we can put out on a semi-regular basis. I'm happy with them and I think they are getting better as time goes on. We have a pretty good schedule planned for podcasts this year. Hopefully we'll be able to follow it fairly well. Kicking off 2016 is the 8th film by Quentin Tarantino, "The Hateful Eight". Hope you enjoy! |
